  • Commission: This is the money you will receive for every successful transaction. The commission can be a percentage or a flat rate. The higher the commission, the more money you will make. For example, if a bag costs $250 and the commission is 5% then you will earn $12.5 on each sale.
  • Contextual link: It refers to an anchor text with a link to the advertiser’s site placed on the affiliate website.
  • Conversion rate: The conversion rate is the percentage rate that tells how any visitors or users are performing the desired action, i.e: making a purchase. The higher the conversion rate, the more money you will make. The average, however, for most industries is about 3 percent.
  • Cookies: Cookies play a very important role in this industry. They’re used to assign unique numbers to each user who clicks on the advertisement to reach the advertiser’s site. Each network or advertiser has a cookie period that can be between 30 days and 90 days. If the user who reached the page makes a purchase within this duration then it will be considered a successful sale and the commission will get added to your account.
  • Cost per action: lt’s an online advertising pricing model that refers to a specified action such as a click, a sale, etc.
  • Cost per acquisition: Every marketer works to reduce the CPA. It refers to the amount it costs to get a user to perform the desired action.
  • Earnings per click: This refers to the commission an affiliate earns every time a visitor clicks on the given link. This is not the same as the profit because not everyone who clicks the link might turn out to be a paying consumer.
  • Offer page: This is the page where the actual conversion occurs. This can be a landing page, a review page, or a blog with a link to the product or advertiser’s site.
  • Return on investment (ROI): This figure tells how much money you’ve made with a campaign. The aim of every business is to increase ROI. This can be done by reducing expenses and increasing sales or profits.
